When Applying for a Carnet
Document of the US Census Bureau, Foreign Trade Statistics Regulations
U.S. exporters may submit an SED with each export shipment including temporary exports travelling under carnet. For details for those requirements click here. There are several exemptions to this requirement, the most notable being for shipments under $2500 in value.
CIB's SED Service for Carnet Applicants
At the time a carnet application is submitted the applicant may also have CIB complete and electronically file the SED. CIB is a certified AES - Automated Export System - filer which is a program of the US Census Bureau, Foreign Trade Statistics. The cost for this service is usually $25.00.
Note: You can no longer complete and file the SED manually. Paper SEDs are no longer accepted.
