Get a UK Carnet
At boomerang carnets® we have seen companies expand their presence into multiple countries, participate in trade shows and industry events, and showcase their technology globally with the use of an ATA Carnet. We have served customers for nearly forty years in the United States and for over a decade in the United Kingdom and are proud that we are the only ATA Carnet company providing ATA Carnet services in two countries. ATA Carnets are a flexible international trade tool that SAVES businesses the duty and taxes on temporary imports of merchandise and goods that often lead to permanent exports.
The ATA Carnet Has You Covered
The ATA Carnet is an internationally accepted customs document for temporarily exported merchandise, goods, or professional equipment and allows cross border movement of those goods import-duty and -tax free into over 90 carnet countries and territories for up to a year. The ATA Carnet is also known as the “Passport for Goods” and may be used as a Certificate of Registration for boomerang freight® departing and returning to the U.S. or U.K., saving you time and extra paperwork required by customs.
Carnets are often used by photographers, filmmakers, scientists, medical professionals, musicians, tech consultants, robotics engineers, contractors, artists, sports teams and more crossing international borders with equipment and goods for contracted jobs, events, projects, demonstrations, or exhibitions.
A Customer Story: Two Decades of Global Growth with ATA Carnets
One of our longstanding clients, a Colorado-based manufacturer of scientific measuring equipment, has been using ATA Carnets with us since 2006. For twenty years, they have relied on carnets to temporarily import their equipment into international markets for exhibitions and live demonstrations.
Their experience with boomerang carnets is a powerful example of how ATA Carnet use will spark business growth. By simplifying customs procedures and eliminating the need to pay duties and taxes on temporary imports, ATA Carnets have enabled them to move their equipment efficiently across many international borders, multiplying their savings on import duty and -tax for each country—that can add up significantly!

When asked about their experience, here’s what they shared about the benefits of using ATA Carnets:
You CAN Sell an Item off an ATA Carnet
Although an ATA Carnet is designed for temporary importation—allowing goods to enter a foreign country without the payment of duties and taxes, provided the same items return to the country of origin in the same condition as when they were exported—there are instances where a sale may occur.
For example, let’s say you're demonstrating your medical device across five countries, and the final destination—the sixth—is where you find the interested prospect who wants to buy it on the spot. You can still benefit from avoiding duty and tax in the first five countries and then pay customs duties and taxes when it’s permanently imported into the sixth. This is a valid use of the carnet and avoids unnecessary freight costs or multiple customs payments on your itinerary. YOU MUST CONTACT US BEFORE DEPARTING THE COUNTRY YOU SOLD THE ITEM IN. You will need detailed guidance before you sell goods listed on the carnet. Contact us and we will guide you through the process.
Over time, the ATA Carnet has become more than just a customs document, it is a strategic international trade tool. It has helped reduce costs, streamline logistics, and create opportunities to build relationships that lead to sales and growth.
