ATA Carnets Used for Winter Olympics in Italy 2026
For the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy, most ATA Carnets that we issued were for news crews and freelance professionals traveling to cover the competition. For athletes, ATA Carnets are used to train as well as compete in the Olympics and the U.S. Bobsled Team used ATA Carnets from boomerang carnets to travel to Canada with equipment and gear for training ahead of the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics. We have been supporters of the U.S. Bobsled Team since 2014. This year the Men's 2-Man Bobsled: Frank Del Duca and brakeman Joshua Williamson finished 4th, achieving the highest USA placing since 2014.
Customer Spotlight: Jordan Cowan and His “On Ice Perspectives” Company
A notable ATA Carnet customer for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan is former competitive ice dancer Jordan Cowan who made history as the first camera operator allowed on the ice during figure skating events. Donned in a white tuxedo, he captures intimate moments with a handheld customized steady cam that he designed especially for this purpose and used an ATA Carnet from boomerang carnets to temporarily import it into Italy for the Olympics avoiding duty and taxes at Customs. This unique hand-held steady cam, mounted on a stabilized gimbal camera rig, allows him to maintain and capture a level picture when on the ice where he is often skating backwards. He was authorized to be on the ice for the skate-on/skate-off moments following athletes to the “kiss-and-cry” area after their performance to capture reactions. He was also allowed on the ice for the medal ceremonies and the closing gala to capture top competitors.
