At boomerang carnets® our mission is to assist customers with their vision for expanding globally.  We provide the ATA Carnet in the U.S. and U.K. and the Carnet de Passages en Douane (CPD) in the U.S. and Canada. 

The ATA Carnet is an international customs document that facilitates seamless border crossings, allowing equipment, gear, and merchandise to clear customs import duty- and tax-free for up to 12 months.  Also known as the “Merchandise Passport.” 

The CPD is an international customs document that facilitates the temporary admission of road motor vehicles across borders, allowing entry without the payment of import duty and tax in countries where required.  Also known as the “Vehicle Passport.”  

As 2025 closes—the final year of the first quarter of the 21st century—we take a look back at the milestones that shaped this year at boomerang carnets.  As we welcome 2026, we look ahead with anticipation to both new opportunities and an historic national celebration of the 250th anniversary in the United States commemorating the signing of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776.

2025 Highlights

Tariffs and ATA Carnets as a Cost-Saving Solution – Staying Ahead
With 2025’s tariff increases impacting businesses across industries—we amplified how ATA Carnets continue to be one of the most effective tools for avoiding duties and taxes on temporary exports, helping companies maintain global mobility even amid shifting trade policies.  In addition, we accelerated our professional education program by expanding opportunities for our team to attend webinars and workshops on tariffs to be informed to address client concerns.
 

AUVSI XPONENTIAL EU – Boomerang in Düsseldorf
A standout moment of 2025 was Kiel Ursin, Carnet Specialist for boomerang carnets, being asked to speak at XPONENTIAL EU, held in Düsseldorf, Germany—the prestigious inaugural event for the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI).  Kiel delivered the presentation in the Innovation Theater to an audience representing more than 65 countries.  His session illuminated how ATA Carnets enable robotics and unmanned systems businesses to move prototypes and equipment globally—duty-free, tax-free.  It was enthusiastically received.  Kiel was pleased to connect with an exhibitor and boomerang carnets customer, using an ATA Carnet for his exhibition equipment and goods. 
 

Carnet-Customized Airport Maps (C-CAM) – Resource Updates
Our Airport Maps for Carnets continues to be the number one, most frequently visited section of our website, drawing both customers and global exporters seeking reliable Customs information.  In 2025, we enhanced the maps for major hubs including LAX, ORD, PDX, EWR, PHX, CDG, and SFO helping carnet holders navigate unfamiliar airports to their Customs offices with confidence.  
 

CPD Issuance in the U.S. & Canada – Celebrating 10 Years
This year we celebrated our milestone 10-year anniversary issuing the Carnet de Passages en Douane (CPD).  In 2015, boomerang carnets was honored to be appointed by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) as the official issuing association for CPDs in the U.S. and Canada.  We made history as the first and only non-automobile association—and the first private company—to receive this prestigious designation.  Watch our “What is a CPD?” video made to commemorate this anniversary HERE.  Also, see Serge, a Canadian customer in 2025, using a CPD for his motorcycle on a dream adventure across Africa HERE.
 

Inaugural ‘Location Manager Awards UK’ in Liverpool – Supporting Production Pros               
Boomerang carnets® Media proudly sponsored the inaugural Location Manager Awards UK at the iconic St. George’s Hall in Liverpool.  The event recognized the essential work of location teams and studio professionals who bring film and television productions to life.  Represented by Curt E.H. Wilson, Managing Director, boomerang carnets® Media, we were honored to sponsor the Liverpool Film Office Location Department Award celebrating the creators of Slow Horses’ Ian Pollington & Team for their outstanding contribution.
 

Wildscreen Summit in Bristol, U.K. – Backing World Wildlife Storytellers
For the second consecutive year, we sponsored the Wildscreen Summit, a global gathering of wildlife filmmakers, photographers, conservationists, and storytellers held in Bristol, U.K.  Our sponsorship demonstrates our commitment to helping natural world protectors travel with their gear freely and cost-effectively using ATA Carnets.  By enabling duty-free movement of equipment, we play a small but essential role in elevating conservation storytelling and environmental awareness.
 

Hawaii Captive Insurance Forum – Thought Leadership
At the 2025 Hawaii Captive Insurance Council Forum, Curt E.H. Wilson, Chairman, President & CEO, Kernow Capital Corporation, contributed to the featured panel discussion, “Where Are Today’s Opportunities?”  Drawing on the innovative ways we’ve used captive insurance structures to support the ATA Carnet business, Curt encouraged attendees to think beyond traditional frameworks and explore new avenues for growth and resilience.
