Advisory on ATA Carnet Use for the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar

The United States Council for International Business (USCIB) announced that Customs authority of Qatar has approved the use of ATA Carnets for Professional Equipment (PE) from October 2022 to December 2022 for the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2022 to be held in Qatar.  This special acceptance is to facilitate the temporary admission of broadcast equipment and other professional gear into Qatar. The national guaranteeing association of Qatar, the Qatar Chamber of Commerce (QCCI), negotiated with Qatari authorities for this special acceptance.

Please note that this expansion is on a temporary and exceptional basis and the final date of re-exportation will be given by the Qatari Customs officials at the time of entry, which Carnet Holders must abide to.

The ATA Carnet is an internationally accepted customs document for temporarily exported merchandise, goods, or professional equipment and allows cross border movement of goods import-duty and -tax free into any of the 87+ carnet countries and territories for up to a year.  Qatar implemented the ATA Carnet System in August 2018 and limited its application for Exhibitions and Fairs.
