Carnets pave way for Olympics & Paralympics Athletes

Since 2014, boomerang carnets® has been a sponsor of TEAM USA’s Bobsled & Skeleton Team.  We also issue ATA Carnets for their uniquely shaped sleds and protective gear that moves into and out of countries for international training meets as well as the Olympics and other world competitions.  Our congratulations to all the athletes in this year’s Olympics and to TEAM USA on their outstanding performances in Beijing.  A special shout out to the Women’s Bobsled Team for bringing home Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals.  Awesome job!

The competitions are not over!  The 2022 Paralympics in Beijing will take place over 10 days from March 4-13.  Athletes in 78 different events across six sports will compete in two disciplines: snow sports (alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, biathlon, and snowboarding) and ice sports (para ice hockey and wheelchair curling).  Over the years, boomerang carnets® and boomerang carnets® UK have issued ATA Carnets for the Olympics and Paralympics for TV and news media crews’ broadcasting equipment/cameras, vendors’ goods, and athletic teams’ gear/equipment. 

Since 2012, we have issued a total of 115 Carnets for six bobsled/skeleton teams that include two adaptive/para bobsled/skeleton teams.  ATA Carnets benefits offer significant savings and ease Clearing Customs that make international competition feasible.  

The ATA Carnet is an internationally accepted customs document for temporarily exported merchandise or goods.  It allows cross border movement of those goods import-duty and -tax free into 87+ carnet countries and territories for up to a year.  The ATA Carnet is known as the Merchandise Passport for boomerang freight® and ideal for professional equipment or goods moving in and out of countries. 

Dave Nicholls, CEO and Founder of the U.S. Adaptive/Para Bobsled & Sports Association, Inc., is a highly experienced and qualified athlete and organizer for adaptive sports.  Nicholls adapted his sporting life after a skiing accident to become a world-class bobsled competitor as Pilot and Team Captain for the Israeli National Bobsled Team located in Park City, Utah, and Lake Placid, New York.

A former TEAM USA athlete, Dave Nicholls started the sport for U.S. Veterans, amputees, and people in wheelchairs as a TEAM USA member.  In an effort to help the sport qualify to become an official Paralympic Sport, he created Bobsled Team Israel which is based in the U.S., training alongside TEAM USA.  “I am the World's first and only paraplegic pilot who is licensed to drive a 2-man and 4-man bobsled.  I have already won Israel its first Gold, Silver, and Bronze medal in World cup competition and I look forward to even more success with our IDF veteran team.”
