Engineering, Technology, and ATA Carnets

Friday, September 25, 2020

Boomerang carnets® has recently seen a growth in customers using ATA Carnets for high-level machinery, tools, and devices that utilize technology for unique and very specific targeted uses in the engineering and building industry.  These can be, for example, a machine tool that calibrates micro analysis of stone and surfaces, machinery for metal working, radiation shielding, heavy equipment simulators, and industrial control systems.  Manufacturers and distributors of these types of engineering products have found customers in the world market looking for new ways to build infrastructure, train workers, and start new projects.  Using drones to survey and examine property before a build is a prime example.  The ATA Carnet allows companies to temporarily move goods or equipment across international borders to demo products and/or do contracted jobs, without paying import-duty or -tax, as long as all the goods or equipment return within a year.  There are also international customers that require lathes, spindles, pump rebuilders, and outdoor power equipment.  Security systems using digital technology to monitor construction sites also factor into this overall trend.

The ATA Carnet is an internationally accepted customs document for the temporary import/export of goods which includes commercial samples, professional equipment, and goods for exhibitions providing you significant savings of import-duty and -tax.  Its many benefits have assisted companies expand into new global markets and its flexibility can easily accommodate any changes.  On September 29th The International Trade Association of Greater Chicago is hosting a webinar featuring Curt E.H. Wilson, Co-Chair & CEO of boomerang carnets® on Strategic Uses of the Carnet to Get Your Orders Across Borders.  The Webinar is from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m.  CDT ITA/GC Members - $25; Non-members - $50.  Join in.
