Former U.S. Department of State Officer Appointed USCIB Vice President

Boomerang carnets® congratulates Michael Rousek on his appointment as Vice President, Customs and Trade Facilitation, at the United States Council for International Business (USCIB).  In this role, Mr. Rousek will lead USCIB’s Customs and Trade Facilitation Committee as well as its Anti-Illicit Trade Committee.  He will be based in USCIB’s Washington, D.C. office.

Mr. Rousek brings extensive U.S. government experience in international economic policy and trade enforcement.  Most recently, he served as the Customs and Trade Facilitation Policy Lead in the State Department’s Office of Multilateral Trade Affairs, as State representative to the World Customs Organization (WCO), State Lead on the implementation of the World Trade Organization (WTO) Trade Facilitation Agreement, and Lead for coordination on forced labor enforcement efforts.

His prior roles include:

  • Financial Economist for the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) within the State Department’s Office of Investment Affairs
  • Foreign Service assignments in economic roles at U.S. embassies in Azerbaijan, Croatia, Indonesia, Germany, and Cambodia
  • Import Specialist with the U.S. Customs Service

Mr. Rousek’s decades of deep expertise in customs policy, enforcement, and international coordination will serve USCIB well, guiding committee activities and helping to shape future policy priorities.
