Mexican Carnet Authorities Issue Warning

Tuesday, November 8, 2011

Mexican carnet authority, CANACO, has issued an official warning that carnet users trying to enter Mexico with a carnet that has not been registered in advance will be denied entry. As previously reported by CIB, carnets entering Mexico need to be registered, at least several days, in advance of arriving in Mexico. Carnets can be registered directly at the U.S. Mexico Registration Form or users can contact a CIB Carnet Specialist for help. Up until this time, CANACO has been mediating with Mexican customs on behalf of foreign carnet users that arrive with a carnet that has not been registered. Due to the time-consuming nature of this mediation, CANACO will no longer be able to perform this service. CIB will be sending an e-mail notification of this information to all CIB carnet users that have open carnets.
