The National Customs Brokers & Forwarders Association of America (NCBFAA) held their annual Global Trade Educational Conference (G-TEC) in Chicago from July 28th to the 30th. This year marks the milestone 10th anniversary of this important educational event. G-TEC is geared to all importers, exporters, and trade professionals. Over three days, there were fifty speakers, and twenty 90-minute sessions led by industry experts on subjects vital to global trade professionals today.
As longstanding members of NCBFAA, boomerang carnets asked Monika Jadeszko, Vice President, Global Carnet Operations, to attend. Continuing education is an investment in our valued team members. Monika learned valuable information presented through sessions, speakers, and activities. She remarked:
“The program was packed with sessions on various subjects including AI applications, Export Penalties and Liquidated Damages, Cybersecurity Risks, Duty Mitigation Strategies, Forced Labor, and Global Risks and Challenges. It was very beneficial to sharpen my knowledge of many regulatory and compliance approaches in trade.”
With over 300 people in attendance, Monika connected with colleagues at networking events where she shared her expertise and insights of the ATA Carnet. “I mingled with many professionals in the field, including freight forwarders, compliance professionals, tech providers, and Licensed Customs Brokers.”
The ATA Carnet in Global Trade
The ATA Carnet is an internationally accepted customs document for temporarily exported merchandise or goods. It allows cross border movement of those goods import-duty and -tax free into 87+ carnet countries and territories for up to 12 months. The ATA Carnet is known as the Merchandise Passport for boomerang freight®. ATA Carnets can be used to take equipment and gear across international borders for a contracted job, exhibit at an international trade show, or demo a prototype or product. At the end of the 12 months, all the items listed on the carnet return to the country of origin, thus the term boomerang freight.
