Chinese New Year 2026 May Delay Carnet Re-Exports

Friday, January 9, 2026

Carnet users should be aware that Chinese New Year (February 17 to March 3, 2026) may create delays in re-exporting goods under carnet.  New Year Celebrations last up to 15 days, but only the first 7 days are considered a public holiday.  If you have a carnet expiration date during that time, carnet users are advised to ship out carnet goods PRIOR to that time to avoid delays that may result in a claim.

For further help with adhering to the terms and conditions of the carnet or if you have any questions regarding your ATA Carnet shipment in China, contact an ATA Carnet Specialist.  ATA Carnet Specialists have logistics contacts for carnets in China and if you require special assistance just call the Carnet HelpLine® 1-800-ATA-2900 |1-800-282-2900 or email us.  Please note that some carnet offices in China may be closed during this time.
