ATA Carnets for the Winter Olympics 2018

The PyeongChang Customs and Freight Forwarding Guide outlines, in detail, the use of ATA Carnets for customs clearance related to the 2018 Winter Olympic Games.

Of note is a preference for use of the ATA Carnet rather than the South Korean temporary import procedure. Compared to prior Guides for the Olympics, the authors have gone into significant detail to advise shippers how to use the carnet for the Olympics in PyeongChang.

Customs will accept transit vouchers as evidence of in-bond transit and good being hand carried will not be required to provide a bill of lading or packing list. The Guide notes that all customs offices can accept ATA Carnets and holders can submit carnets to the customs office of choice upon importation and re-exportation.
