When You Must Travel with Both a Digital & Paper ATA Carnet
An eATA, the digital version of an ATA Carnet, is currently being used by the UK, EU member countries, Switzerland and Norway.
In many instances, both a paper version and a digital version (on an app on your smartphone) of your carnet will be necessary during the global transition to fully digital carnet documents.
This "temporary union" of paper and digital, when your itinerary includes both "paper" countries and "digital" countries, means you must present to customs one or the other depending on which country you are clearing your goods into.
