Boomerang Carnets Sponsors League of American Orchestras Conference

Friday, June 4, 2021

Boomerang carnets® is sponsoring the League of American Orchestras (LOAO) 76th National Conference which is a virtual event once again this year.  The theme is “Embracing a Changed World” and is being held from June 7-17.  Boomerang will host a virtual booth to connect with attendees and presenters and we’re looking forward to seeing you and hearing how you have been since last year’s conference.  Four Carnet Specialists will be available to answer questions about the benefits of carnets for international touring for an individual musician, a small group, or an orchestra planning a tour coming out of the COVID crisis.

Curt E. H. Wilson, President and CEO of boomerang carnets® and boomerang carnets® U.K., Managing Director, will be on hand to answer any questions you may have and welcomes all to visit the Boomerang virtual booth. From his 30+ years of experience in the carnet business, he knows what your concerns on international touring may be at this time.

“We realize that it takes a tremendous amount of time to plan an orchestral tour and though it may not be possible to tour on a larger scale until 2022, touring musicians should still take advantage of the benefits carnets provide.  There is so much infrastructure that is rebuilding right now and that will take time.  Venues have different restrictions and protocols; all countries are different.  Now that we can travel, keeping things safer is what we recommend.  If you are a musician planning to travel with your instrument, getting an ATA Carnet for it will add a layer of safety and security to ensure you arrive timely at your international performance dates.”

“Boomerang is currently working to expand discounted carnet rates for musicians in both the U.S. and the U.K.  We want to bring answers to members of musicians’ organizations and unions by providing easier access to carnets.  Right now, we are offering discounted carnet rates to members of the Musicians’ Union in the U.K. and are planning to build on that with the Association of British Orchestras (ABO), and the Featured Artists Coalition (FAC) moving forward.”

Boomerang congratulates our two recipients of this year’s Carnets “Play the World” Grants awarded to a select group of LOAO members to defray the cost of attending the annual conference. They are:

  • The Philadelphia Orchestra, Michelle Zwi – Operations and Touring Manager
  • Pacific Symphony, Eileen Jeanette, Sr. VP of Artistic Planning and Production

Enjoy the Conference and please stop by the Boomerang booth.  This year’s conference includes speakers and panel discussions vital to the future of the industry, and we’re excited to be a part of it.
